COMMUNICATION File Transfer

File Transfer from Biostatistics to others outside the university is accomplished using our File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program called WS_FTP. This program should be located under your Start --> Programs directory. If you do not see it there or have deleted it by accident you can always get it on the Network Neighborhood at //NEPTUNE/WS_FTP. The WS_FTP software is very straightforward to use and only requires a few bits of information to transfer data. You will need to know the Host Name/Address of the computer you wish to connect to, the Host Type (which kind of computer it is), and a username and password. Once connected you will see your computer's files on the left of the WS_FTP window (Local System) and the Host computer's files on the right of the window (Remote Site). To download or upload files simply highlight the file you wish to move and click the correctly orientated arrow button in the middle of the window. *Do not forget to select the appropriate method of file transfer Binary or ASCII!
